Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme :-There have been reports of crop damage from many places due to rain and hailstorm in the past few days. Mainly in Haryana, there has been damage to crops due to rain and hailstorm. In such a situation, keeping in mind the problems of the farmers, the Chief Minister of the state Manohar Lal Khattar has ordered to conduct a special survey, also known as Girdawari, in the affected area to compensate the farmers for their crop loss.

The Chief Minister has stated that compensation will be provided for the losses incurred by farmers’ crops. Special assessments will be conducted by evaluating damaged crops to provide appropriate compensation. The Chief Minister mentioned that special assessments will be conducted throughout the state for crops destroyed by heavy rain and hailstorms. Subsequently, based on reports received from all districts, compensation will be issued to farmers promptly. In this manner, farmers can receive compensation by registering crop information and undergoing special assessments.
When will the crop survey or survey be done?
In Haryana Crop Insurance Scheme , a task of assessing the exact damage to crops caused by hailstorms has been initiated from February 1st, extending until March. All district administrations have been instructed to prepare reports on crop damage due to hailstorms. Farmers in the state can upload reports of crop losses onto the Revenue Department’s E-compensation portal.

Engaging in dialogue with them, he emphasized the importance of farmers registering their crops on the “My Crop My Details” portal to facilitate uploading information about losses incurred. He assured them of the state government’s support and also inspected the grain procurement yard in Dhanana village.
Rs 1600 crore deposited in farmers' accounts
Before this, the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, Dushyant Chautala, revealed that a sum of Rs. 1600 crore has been deposited into the accounts of farmers of the state as compensation for crop losses from 2019 to 2024. He mentioned about the digitalization of revenue records stating that the state government initiated it more than a year ago. Efforts are being made to establish digital record rooms at the district level for the Revenue Department. Deputy Chief Minister Chautala stated that the Financial Commissioner Revenue (FCR), revenue records of tehsils and sub-tehsils will be digitized by March 31. After this, people will be able to obtain their land and revenue-related documents online with just a single click, eliminating the need to organize old written records.
Farmers should increase their income by doing fish farming in water logged areas.

During a public dialogue program, the chief minister remarked that where there is regular water retention in fields, farmers can significantly increase their earnings by venturing into fish farming instead of traditional agriculture. He stated that by cultivating shrimp in fish farming, one can earn around 2 lakh rupees per acre annually. Therefore, utilizing areas prone to waterlogging can yield considerable benefits.

Premium rates under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme are set at 2% for Rabi crops, 1.5% for Kharif crops, and 5% for commercial or horticultural crops.
